Androgen/Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Androgen deficiency means the body has lower levels of androgens, in particular testosterone.

Testosterone deficiency, especially in older men, is not a common cause of erectile dysfunction. But some men with erectile dysfunction have a low testosterone level, which in turn can influence their sex drive/libido.

Treatment for androgen deficiency is called hormone/testosterone replacement therapy. Testosterone can be administered by a tablet, skin patch or gel, or via an injection or implant.

Side- effects of Testosterone Replacement Therapy

The side-effects of testosterone replacement therapy are not common, once levels are restored to normal range.Some possible side effects include:

• Mood changes
• Breast development
• Weight gain
• Increased aggression
