Symptoms of Hepatitis B?

Many adults infected with hepatitis B show no symptoms of infection, although other may experience:

  • Mild flu-like symptoms; fever, loss of appetite, tiredness and pains in the joints
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes)

Complications/Consequences of Hepatitis B?

Many people recover from hepatitis B, but acute hepatitis B is occasionally so severe it can be life threatening.  Furthermore, long-term hepatitis B carriers may suffer chronic hepatitis, which may cause cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), liver failure and liver cancer.
