Definition of Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder

Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder is the absence of sexual fantasies, thoughts, and/or desire for, or receptivity to, sexual activity, which causes personal/interpersonal distress.

3 Criteria for Diagnosis:

  1. Lack of sexual fantasy and desire to engage in sexual activityThis absence of fantasy and desire must produce marked personal or interpersonal distress.
  2. The distress can affect both partners.
  3. That the disorder is not better viewed as a result of a major psychiatric or medical condition, or of substance abuse
