1.   The Individual Stressors:

  • Feelings of rejection
  • Feelings of abandonment
  • Career overload
  • Sexual abuse
  • Physical abuse
  • Emotional trauma
  • Negative cognitive distortions
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Sexual orientation conflicts

2.   The Families of Origin (Intergenerational):

  • Individual/Religious values and beliefs towards sex and/or sexual intimacy
  • Cultural attitudes towards sex and/or sexual intimacy
  • Family-of-origin difficulties

Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD)3.   The Couple's Relationship:

  • Relationship issues/marital distress
  • Current sexual context/script
  • Intimacy difficulties
  • Infidelity
  • Power struggles
  • Toxic communication
  • Criticism from the partner
  • Chronic/severe illness in partner
  • Partner's sexual difficulty

4.   Medical Factors:

  • Antipsychotics
  • Antidepressants
  • Recreational drugs
